GAME DAY

GETTING THERE:
There are 2 entry points off University Drive (see below):
-Eastern Entrance – once you are in the Uni turn right at the give way sign onto the Ring Road
-Wirra Crescent – follow the road around to the ground

 

PARKING

There are a number of parking options within close proximity to the field or you may wish to park near the Bar on the Hill which is where the home game post-match functions are held. Public transport is also a great means of getting to and from the game safely.

FACILITIES

There are upstairs and downstairs standing only viewing areas that are partially under cover. A limited number of uncovered tiered seating is also available.  There are bathroom facilities downstairs however disabled bathrooms are available at the Forum. Eftpos facilities can be located a 5 minute walk away at the CBA Bank. 

FOOD & BAR

We have a number of food and beverage items to enjoy. The upstairs Bradford Bar sells beer wine and soft drinks. It also sells pies, sausage rolls, BBQ steak and sausage sandwiches, chips, lollies and a variety of other snacks.

 

KICK OFF

Kick off on Saturdays is as follows:
Premier 1 - 3:00 pm Premier 2 - 1:40 pm,
Premier 3 – 12:30 pm Colts – 11:10 am
Womens at 4:30pm. (varies depending on venue).
Premier 4 - Friday night - kick off depends on venue.

cost

Entry to our home games is free of charge as there are no fences around the field. We encourage all university students, friends and family to come along to all home games to support your team.

 

THEME DAYS

During the season we will have specific theme days with entertainment tailored to suit - check out our 2019 events here. We will provide further information about each match day in due course.

TOP TIPS FOR A GREAT DAY OUT

  • Get here early and enjoy a full day out! Colts kick off at 11:10am (Note - subject to change)

  • Dress for the weather conditions – sunglasses, scarfs and sometimes wet weather gear and an umbrella will be required for the Newcastle winter!

  • Kit yourself out in the latest UoN Rugby gear available at The Bradford Bar upstairs.

  • Keep up to date with the Students on matchdays and every day via our social media pages - search for #nurseahorses

  • Bring a chair to sit on the hill or the far sideline to watch the game in comfort

  • Join us for a drink at the Bar on the Hill after the game, to chat with the players coaches and friends

  • Head to the Albion Hotel Wickham to keep the night rolling

RESPECT THE GAME

UoN Rugby Club recognises that comments made in good spirit are part of the game of rugby.

UoN Rugby Club will not tolerate verbal abuse of any kind by members of the crowd towards, players, match officials or other spectators. Patrons found verbally attacking players or officials will be asked to leave the ground.

POST MATCH SHUTTLE BUS

While on campus the University Security Shuttle Bus  is available for transport to Warabrook Train station up until 6:30pm.  You can book a ride between 6:30pm and 12:30am by calling 0407 951 470.  Refer to the  off campus boundary map  for local suburbs that the shuttle will take you to.

BAR ON THE HILL

Our clubhouse at The Bar on the Hill hosts the post match presentation and is less than a 10 minute stroll from the ground. Food is available and the bar offers a full range of beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks with the club’s Seahorse Larger is on tap for $5 a schooner. The venue is family friendly with plenty of area for children to play. Following presentations, we encourage all players and supporters to start their evening at the Albion Hotel (the clubs in town sponsor).

THE ALBION

The Albion Hotel in Wickham is the clubs in town sponsor and we encourage players and supporters who are heading into town to start their evening with a few of the many beers on tap, quality wines and spirits or something softer. Warabrook train station is less than a kilometer from the Bar on the Hill and its only 500 meters walk to the Albion from Newcastle train station. A shuttle bus service will be running with limited seating.
