Bob is a highly experienced campaigner that has been involved for a number of years in a variety of clubs and codes. Previous experience with the Newcastle Knights, the Hunter Mariners and Newcastle United in the National Soccer League and a variety of local Rugby League and Rugby Clubs has seen Bob develop a depth of experience and skills in a number of areas. Most recently he filled the role of Director of Rugby at Wanderers Rugby club and as Director of Rugby at University of Newcastle he will have the responsibility of coordinating the many on-field aspects of the Rugby Club.
Julian grew up in the rugby strong Taranaki and Waikato region and played rugby from an early age into grade, until suffering a shoulder injury. He holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree majoring in Psychology from University of Waikato. After a 2 year refereeing stint he has been coaching senior rugby in Newcastle for the last 2 years. I like to relate training back to game style situations, and empower players to develop their skills and exceed their potential both on and off the field. To me, a proactive defence provides a strong foundation, creating the opportunity to play expansive attacking rugby.
